I began teaching fitness classes in Bristol in 2004. At the time most of my classes were Spin, Aerobics, and Aquafit. After qualifying as a personal trainer and exercise referral instructor I moved into more specialised areas and developed an exercise programme for older adults, before moving into mental health and running a physical activity project for people living with serious mental illness. This involved running the gym within the psychiatric wards at Southmead Hospital and running classes and walking groups at various locations within the Bristol community.
After sometime travelling and working abroad from 2009-2014, I moved to London where I worked for a charity run gym in Covent Garden, London. Here I was involved in projects to build healthier communities and around this time I qualified in 'Exercise for Cancer Rehabilitation'. Following this I developed a referral service for people with and recovering from cancer. I always continued teaching fitness classes such as Bootcamp, Bodypump, BodyBalance and older adults circuits, I also decided to develop my skills and knowledge by completing my Pilates teacher qualification.
Having built a regular yoga and meditation practice, in 2015 I traveled to India to study and train to teach Yoga. I spent 1 month at the Himalaya Yoga Valley School where I completed 200hrs teacher training. Following this I went on to teach classes full time in London at several locations, including More Yoga, Virgin Active, Nuffield, YMCA, Jubilee Hall Gyms and the Houses of Parliament.
Having recently relocated to Oxford I hope to bring some of this experience and passion for teaching movement to the local community.
